Care and Maintenance Tips for your Zipslide

  1. If you are trying to retract the Zipslide in medium to heavy wind conditions, the wind can put pressure on the top and bottom zips and may stop the screen from retracting. Try again in-between gusts, or once wind has abated.
  2. Safety stickers have been provided if you feel you need to increase the visibility of the mesh to prevent potential collisions for children, adults, and pets. Apply at eye level.
  3. Where the integrated zip mechanism zips into the tracks, there may be minor fabric puckering, particularly with sunscreen mesh as it is thicker. This is simply due to 3 thicknesses of fabric fusing the zip and mesh together and will not cause any opening/closing issues.
  4. The powder coated metal components and profiles of your Zipslide should be cleaned twice annually, or every 6 weeks in coastal environments.  Wash in tepid mild soapy water (preferably biodegradable) and rinse off.  Build-up of dirt and salt on these surfaces reduces the life of the powder coating. Do not use strong bleaches such as pool chlorine.
  5. Lubricate moving components and tracks annually or when required with a silicone-based spray, applying sparingly. Avoid getting the spray on the Zipslide mesh as it may stain. Do not use oil-based lubricants.
  6. Retract/close the Zipslide only when clean and dry. If rolled away wet, the Zipslide should be extended at the first opportunity and allowed to dry in the sun.
  7. To remove dirt from the fabric, brush dry fabric with a soft brush. Do not use solvents or other liquid cleansers on the fabric.
  8. Immediately remove deposits of organic matter (e.g. soil, grass cuttings, leaf litter, bird droppings). When wet, some leaf species can cause staining and should be removed immediately and before rolling the mesh back into the cassette.
  9. No objects should be attached to or hung from the Zipslide as damage may occur.
  10. Remove cassette cover every 6 months as shown in the photos below. Vacuum inside to avoid dirt build up.
  11. A brush and scraper tool are provided with your Zipslide installation. Vacuum and brush tracks regularly. It’s very important to also regularly clean the PVC strip in the bottom track using the scraper tool. Insert scraper tool into PVC strip as shown. Slide debris to the receiver end and vacuum out debris.
